about

Early 2017 I was asked to write some music for Brandon Bassham's upcoming horror comedy "Slashening 2: The Final Beginning". I had already written soundtrack music for his previous two films (The Slashening and FearTown U.S.A.) so of course I was up for the game. On the previous Slashening, the songs I wrote were an homage to the master John Carpenter. For this movie, I decided to go in the vein of Fabio Frizzi/Fulci movies (if I could also hit upon some Goblin/Italo disco, I would try as well. Did I achieve? You be the judge).

Unlike the other films, I actually had scenes to write to, that were scent to me as they filmed it. I wrote about 8 songs to various scenes in the movie before I moved away from the East Coast to the West Coast. In the shuffle of life and for various creative choices beyond my control, most of the songs written (besides some little pieces here and there) were not used in the actual movie. Which I thought was a shame because, even with the limited brain activity I had both with an upcoming newborn baby and a upcoming move cross country, I was pretty happy with all the music. And thought that it was a great progression from the previous soundtrack work I had done. Such is the way.

I lost the files on my computer. Or they just got filed in with the many projects that don't go exactly where you thought they would and no one ever heard them. Recently I stumbled upon the songs, looking for some other completely different half finished music project and was really psyched on them. SO the Lost Soundtrack was born.

The tracks are rough. They never got the final polish. Maybe glorified demos? Maybe exactly how they should be.

It's a lost soundtrack baby what do you want. Up the synth punx!

(Thank you to Ramsey Ess for throwing together an album cover from the existing poster and me asking him to make it look like Tangerine Dreams lost record "Green Desert" aka..put it in a circle.)
